Tottenham: Guglielmo Vicario shows signs of ‘weakness’ with what he did v West Ham
Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes Guglielmo Vicario showed signs of “weakness” with the goal he conceded against West Ham.
The Hammers came from behind to draw 1-1 with Spurs at the London Stadium on Tuesday (2 April).
Kurt Zouma turned the ball home from a corner to level proceedings in the 19th minute after Brennan Johnson had given Ange Postecoglou’s side the lead after just five minutes.
And King believes that Vicario was at fault from the set piece which offered the Hammers a route back into the game.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “Vicario needed to be stronger for the goal.
“I thought he played well, he made one or two decent saves, but in those situations, he needs to be better.
“That equaliser was a big blow because West Ham didn’t look like they were going to score unless it was from a set piece.
“Vicario has to deal with these situations better because it looks as though clubs have noticed this weakness and they are starting to load the penalty boxes and make things difficult for him.”
Guglielmo Vicario still has room to improve under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Vicario has been called out in the past for his lack of authority in set-piece situations.
When it comes to distribution and shot-stopping, few keepers in the Premier League have been better than the Italy international this season.
It is therefore clear where Vicario’s issues lie, and that should be something which is being addressed on the training ground every day.

It has been a standout season for the 27-year-old, and if he can just fix these slight issues, Tottenham could have a truly world-class goalkeeper on their hands in North London.
In other Tottenham news, King has reacted to an injury update at Spurs after a doctor shared a “100 per cent” claim.
