Tottenham expert showers Daniel Levy with praise for ‘world-class’ signing
Daniel Levy will be determined to tie up any loose ends at Tottenham between now and the end of the window.
Tottenham have had a mixed week as the summer deadline approaches.
Thomas Frank led the Lilywhites to back-to-back wins in the Premier League after Tottenham bagged a 2-0 victory against Manchester City at the Etihad.
However, Spurs also watched in horror as Arsenal swooped in and stole Eberechi Eze from their grasp. Meanwhile, his potential replacement, Nico Paz, looks set to remain at Como as he waits for Real Madrid.
This has left Levy stuck between a rock and a hard place these past couple of days. However, things do seem to be looking up for the chairman at Hotspur Way.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.
Tottenham praised for Cristian Romero extension
It was touch-and-go for a while at Tottenham with Cristian Romero linked with a transfer to Atletico Madrid.
Rumours were rife when Ange Postecoglou was relieved of his position at Tottenham. It was believed that Romero was particularly close to Postecoglou.
However, all worries were soon put to bed as Spurs announced Romero had extended in North London, not long after he took over as captain from Son Heung-min.
While Tottenham will be hoping for new additions, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Romero is Spurs’ biggest signing of the summer.
“I genuinely believe it’s bigger than any signing we could make, you,” Wenham said.
“He lost his manager. It’s obvious he was close to Postecoglou, won a trophy with him last year. But the fact that he was made the captain, I think, very quickly shows he feels at home at Tottenham.
“For me, it’s the biggest contract renewal they’ve done since Son extended in 2021 in terms of getting an absolute key world-class player in the prime years of their career to come, renew and renew long term till 2029.”
What are Romero’s best games for Tottenham so far?
Romero has been an important player for Tottenham since he arrived, creating core memories among fans.
There are some honourable mentions:
- February 2023: Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea
- February 2022: Tottenham 3-2 Manchester City
- March 2022: Tottenham 2-0 Brighton
A performance to remember was during Tottenham’s 1-0 victory against Brighton in 2023. A tight-knit game, it was his defensive solidity which ensured the Lilywhites were able to keep a clean sheet.
The UEFA Europa League final no doubt makes the cut. It was a superb defensive performance, which was recognised with the Man of the Match award.
There is no doubt that Tottenham fans will be hoping for many more incredible performances from Romero over the next few years.
