Tottenham Expert shares Raphinha transfer verdict after what Fabrizio Romano said last week

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose believes the signing of Raphinha at Tottenham should not be a “priority” after Fabrizio Romano offered an update on the Barcelona star.

According to Romano (via Chris Cowlin’s YouTube, 27 March), Spurs hold a “concrete” interest in the 27-year-old Brazillian.

The reliable Itallian journalist said, “For Raphinha, it could be different. I think Tottenham’s interest is concrete, but it’s important to understand the financial situation at Barcelona by the end of April or the beginning of May.”

However, Wenham does not believe that the signing of Raphinha should be at the top of Spurs’ to-do list ahead of next season.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “He is a player who I believe will cost huge money, and I would have my doubts over the signing.

“I would not be obliged to him joining on loan, where we have the chance to take a look at him and we’re not committed to signing him permanently.

“But it just seems like it would cost the club a lot, and he wouldn’t be a priority signing for me.

“I also just don’t see him being desperate to join Tottenham if I am being honest.”

Could Tottenham bring Raphinha to North London to play under Ange Postecoglou?

If Spurs are successful in their pursuit of UEFA Champions League football, they will have every chance of luring Raphinha to North London.

Postecoglou is a fan of tricky wingers with pace, and Raphinha is someone who certainly fits the bill.

However, he would likely cost a lot, and Daniel Levy would probably need to be convinced to splash the cash.

Ultimately, it should be Postecoglou who has the final say.

If he feels Raphinha is a player who is needed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, then the club should do everything they can to make that happen.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham believes one Under-18 Spurs ace is poised to become a top-level player in North London.
