Tottenham Expert shares Antonio Nusa verdict as fresh transfer twist emerges from Fabrizio Romano

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Tottenham could repeat the tricks of Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr by signing Antonio Nusa from Club Brugge in January, and is hopeful they will beat Brentford to the signing.

Udogie and Sarr were both signed before being sent back on loan to the clubs they were bought from.

Both players have made a big impact this season, quickly becoming regular fixtures of Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Tottenham News previously revealed (18 January) that Johan Lange was interested in bringing Nusa to North London.

A couple of days later, Fabrizio Romano reported via his official X account (20 January) that the North London outfit are “pushing” to get a deal agreed, which would see Nusa remain in Belgium until the end of the season.

However, the Italian journalist has now reported on a fresh twist in the race for Nusa, suggesting (28 January) that he is on the verge of joining Spurs’ London rivals Brentford.

In light of this news, Wenham is hopeful that the club can get a deal across the line for the player who could prove very useful to Ange Postecoglou down the line.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “At the moment, we’re so full in those wide areas. We have Brennan Johnson who we spent a lot of money on and Timo Werner on loan, as well as others.

“This signing would be one for the future if it happened. I think once we assess Werner’s situation in the summer if it turns out that we decided not to keep him, then Nusa would be the replacement in the squad for him.

“It would be another deal similar to the deals for Sarr and Udogie, purchasing the player before sending him back on loan.

“I’m always up for us going out and signing the best young talent, and if that involves loaning them back then then so be it because that’s worked so well for us already in the past.”

In other Tottenham news, Spurs missed out on the opportunity to sign a trio of players now worth more than £80million for a combined fee of just £8million.
