Tottenham Expert: Sergio Reguilon has good opportunity to make his stay with Brentford permanent
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham believes Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon has put himself in a good position to earn a permanent switch to Premier League side Brentford.
Reguilon joined Spurs from La Liga giants Real Madrid just over four years ago in a deal which was worth up to £32million (Sky Sports News, 19 September 2020).
Despite a positive first couple of seasons in North London, the Spaniard has since fallen down the pecking order and has been sent out on loan spells with Atletico Madrid and Manchester United, both of which proved to be ultimately unsuccessful.
His most recent loan switch has seen him link up with Spurs’ London rivals Brentford (Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 17 January), and Wenham believes there is a chance that this move could prove to be a good fit.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “Reguilon has put himself in the window to earn a good move by joining up with Brentford.
“He made his debut off the bench, but I think he will now get a run of games in the side and establish himself as a key player for the Bees.
“I know that they already have Rico Henry, but they’ll want two good left-backs at the club, and Spurs need to sell him permanently.

“If he does well there, I could see that potentially leading to a permanent transfer for him.”
In other Tottenham news, Wenham has blasted Spurs fans after one star has come under criticism for his recent displays.
