Tottenham Expert piles the praise on Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke amid Spurs transfer speculation
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham fears the impact Dominic Solanke can have for Bournemouth against a makeshift Tottenham back-four when the two teams meet on New Year’s Eve.
Tottenham will look to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat at Brighton when they host high-flying Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 31 December.
The Cherries arrive in north London unbeaten in their last seven matches, with Solanke in fine form, having scored 12 Premier League goals already so far this season, and Ange Postecoglou will be wary of the threat the striker poses.

The Sun reported on 25 December that Spurs are monitoring Solanke ahead of the January transfer window with Postecoglou in the market to add to his striker options.
It is understood that Bournemouth are braced for bids for him next month and that the ex-Liverpool striker “ticks a lot of boxes for Spurs”.
Ahead of the match between Spurs and Bournemouth on Sunday, Wenham has piled the praise on the 26-year-old Cherries talisman.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “It will be difficult for Tottenham to deal with Solanke without Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven.
“He is flying at the minute and he’s looking like the player that I always thought he was going to become.
“I have watched him dominate Tottenham many times over the years while in Chelsea’s youth teams, and to tell the truth I’m pleased for him as I always thought he was a really good player.
“I think he will be knocking on the door of the next England squad. I know that Ollie Watkins scores a lot of goals, but Solanke is the closest England striker to Harry Kane in terms of the way he plays and what he offers in terms of his ability to hold up the ball.

“This will be a really tough game for Spurs on Sunday. We lost this game last year at home, and Bournemouth are in much better form this time around.
“They’re a good team on a good run, and I am hoping that just like against Everton, we can be the side that ends their unbeaten run.”
In other Tottenham news, a finance expert has suggested the club could use Son Heung-min as leverage with financial compensation unlikely.
