Tottenham Expert makes Harry Kane prediction as David Ornstein update emerges on Eric Dier
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes former Tottenham striker Harry Kane has had an influence on Bayern Munich’s decision to sign Eric Dier permanently.
As per David Ornstein (via The Athletic, 29 February), Dier will make his loan stay with Bayern Munich permanent this summer.
The 30-year-old left Spurs in January to join the German giants on a deal that runs until the end of the season and includes an option for a further 12 months.
That option has now been triggered according to Ornstein, and with Dier’s Spurs contract set to expire in June, he will effectively be signed as a free agent by Bayern when his contract in North London is up.
Ornstein’s report reveals that Bayern have been pleased with Dier’s performances so far, although King believes some behind-the-scenes developments might be at play.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “Since they returned from the winter break, Bayern haven’t been performing that well, and as a result, Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season.
“That poor run of results, especially that resounding defeat against Bayer Leverkusen, would have led to question marks over Dier’s performances.
“I don’t think Dier has fulfilled what Tuchel was hoping he would fulfil. However, I wonder if Dier has been kept around at Bayern to keep Kane happy.
“Perhaps that is what Kane wanted. It will be interesting to see what new manager comes in and what their plans with Dier are.”
Will Eric Dier and Harry Kane have more success with Bayern Munich than they did at Tottenham?
When Kane finally left his boyhood club to join Bayern, everybody assumed that meant guaranteed silverware.
However, there is a good chance Kane won’t win that silverware this season, and with Tuchel set to leave the club, Tottenham News recently revealed that Kane could be interested in a return to North London.
Should that move not materialise, it will be interesting to see what direction Bayern head in, and what that means for Dier and Kane.

After struggling for game time toward the end of his Spurs career, many supporters would have been surprised to see Dier get a move to Bayern, where trophies seemed inevitable.
And while the Bundesliga title and the converted UEFA Champions League seem to be increasingly slipping away from Bayern’s fingertips, Dier will rest assured knowing that he will now get another opportunity to compete for some of the game’s biggest prizes in Germany next season.
