Tottenham Expert: Late loan moves on the cards for Under-21 duo Yago Santiago and Nile John

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Tottenham Under-21 stars Yago Santiago Alonso and Nile John will be sent out on loan before the January transfer window slams shut.

Spurs’ Under-21s have been in fine form this season, sitting top of Premier League 2 with a 100 per cent record in the competition.

Some of the club’s standout performers have already secured loan moves this month, with goalkeeper Josh Keeley joining up with National League side Barnet while he continues to train at Hotspur Way, as exclusively revealed by Tottenham News (19 January).

Meanwhile, Ashley Phillips will play the rest of his football this season with Championship side Plymouth Argyle.

With time running out in the January transfer window, Wenham believes that the club will still look to move a couple of their Under-21 stars out on loan.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I think there are a couple more players who could still leave the club this month.

“Santiago has been in fine form this season and I think he might secure a loan switch.

“John as well is someone who I think could benefit from going out on loan, and I think Spurs will still be working on moves for those players.

“The Under-21s are top of the league and playing well and moving some of those players on would allow some of the Under-18 stars to come up and play at that level and get that valuable experience.”

Left winger Santiago has played nine Premier League 2 games this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists, while midfielder John has played eight times in the competition, scoring three goals and providing one assist

In other Tottenham news, Wenham has shared his verdict on Postecoglou after “diabolical” events in January.
