Tottenham expert ‘disappointed’ after what happened to Richarlison with Brazil

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose claims he is “disappointed” after Richarlison was handed no minutes for Brazil and believes the Tottenham striker was “overshadowed” by 17-year-old Endrick.

The forward struggled to adapt at first but has found some form this season under Ange Postecoglou, scoring 10 Premier League goals.

Despite his goalscoring record as of late, the 26-year-old was an unused substitute in both of Brazil’s friendlies during the March international break, with Wenham expressing his frustration at the situation.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “I was disappointed by Richarlison’s lack of minutes throughout the international break.

“Similar to the way that James Maddison seemed to be overshadowed by the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo with England, Richarlison was overshadowed by Endrick for Brazil.

“He will have also been disappointed by his lack of minutes as it would have been beneficial for him to play after spending some time out injured.”

Richarlison must prove his worth at Tottenham to get back into the Brazil starting lineup

Richarlison has been a regular for Brazil over the past few years, and he will feel more frustrated than anyone about his lack of playing time over the past week.

He has only just returned from injury, and perhaps Dorival Junior was keen not to rush the striker back while using the friendlies as an opportunity to take a look at Endrick.

However, with this being the first chance Richarlison had to impress his new international boss, who took over in January, he will feel frustrated that he was denied that chance.

Endrick certainly took his chance, scoring the winner against England at Wembley on Saturday (23 March) while also netting in the 3-3 draw with Spain on Tuesday (26 March), and Richarlison must now work hard to ensure he gets back into the picture ahead of this year’s Copa America.
