Tottenham expert details ‘huge boost’ Beth England will have after her recent return to form

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Tottenham Women are moving in the right direction and Beth England’s return to form can be a “huge boost” for the club in the second half of the season.

England grabbed her first two goals of the 2023/24 campaign as Robert Vilahamn’s side came from behind to win 3-2 in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup against Sheffield United Women on Sunday 14 January.

The 29-year-old finished last season as the club’s top scorer but was yet to score this year after spending the first half of the season injured.

Two new players also made their debut for the North London side in the win against Sheffield United, and Wenham believes that the team’s progress is having a positive impact on the entire club.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I am delighted with the progress of the Women’s team.

“They seem to have really established themselves as a decent side in the Women’s Super League this season and that win against Arsenal was a real statement from them.

“Who knows where they can go this season? Beth England is back in form, which is a huge boost, and two new players made their debuts in the Women’s FA Cup, so it seems as if they are strengthening the squad, and that will only help the side improve, which is fantastic to see.

“When you walk around Hotspur Way and all the academy teams are winning, the women’s team are winning, and the first team are winning, it just creates a positive impact around the whole place, making it somewhere players want to come and play.”
