Tottenham Expert delivers high praise to Robert Vilahamn and his players after ‘historic’ milestone
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham believes Tottenham Women’s “historic” victory against Arsenal Women can act as a platform for the club to build on.
Spurs claimed victory over the Gunners for the first time ever, winning the north London derby 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 16 December, with Robert Vilahamn’s side currently sitting sixth in the WSL.
They will return to action and look to build on this achievement when they face Sheffield United Women in the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 14 January.

It has been a largely positive season for Tottenham, and Wenham has praised the impact the team’s success has had on the entire club.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “That win against Arsenal Women was massive for everyone at the club.
“A few days before, the two teams had drawn 3-3 in the cup, and I was told by people that Arsenal had rested a few players for the WSL game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so to see Spurs then beat them in that game was a really historic moment for everyone involved.
“I am really pleased, the new head coach seems to be doing a phenomenal job and hopefully they can build on this, continue to invest in the squad and bring Tottenham Women up to the level of the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea Women.

“This momentum is flooding through the whole club as well. The women are training in the same facilities as the men, and it creates a positive atmosphere.
“Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy were both in attendance for the win over Arsenal, and it is just great to see the club as a whole moving in the right direction.”
In other Tottenham news, Spurs have set their sights on signing a player who has been dubbed the next Christian Eriksen.
