Tottenham expert ‘delighted’ after what happened to Under-21 star Alfie Dorrington
John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose was “delighted” with the progress Tottenham Under-21 star Alfie Dorrington made during the March international break.
Dorrington had been out of action with an injury since January before returning for Tottenham’s Under-21s in a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough’s Under-21s on 17 March.
He was selected for international duty and called up to represent England’s Under-19s, starting in the 1-1 draw against Morrocco’s Under-19s (21 March) while making a substitute appearance in the 3-2 defeat to USA’s Under-19s (24 March).
And Wenham has spoken highly of Dorrington after seeing him in action for the Young Lions.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “I was delighted that after his return from injury, Dorrington was able to get some minutes over the international break.
“He was playing as a right-sided centre-back in a back-three, and it was just good to see him back on the pitch.
“He is a key player I am fully expecting him to play every game for the Under-21s between now and the end of the season which should help them clinch the Premier League 2 title.
“Overall, it was just important for him to go away and get that game time.”
Alfie Dorrington could become a star under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Postecoglou should be keeping a close eye on the development of Dorrington in North London.
He is a player with all the potential to go right to the very top, and Spurs must ensure they keep hold of him and manage his transition into the first team smoothly.
Following Dorrington’s injury, Spurs’ Under-21s saw their form take a hit, as they won just two of their six games without the defender in all competitions, with their 100 per cent Premier League 2 record coming to an end.

It demonstrated the importance Dorrington has at Hotspur Way and offers Spurs supporters cause for excitement when it comes to the 18-year-old.
