Tottenham Expert can forgive ‘exciting’ Antonio Nusa for January transfer snub
Tottenham expert John Wenham would be willing to look past Antonio Nusa’s decision to pick Brentford over Spurs in January.
According to Football London (28 February), Tottenham have maintained an interest in Nusa after the dramatic conclusion of the transfer saga surrounding the 18-year-old in January.
Spurs were interested in a £25million move for the Norwegian, but he opted to sign for Brentford instead as they could offer him more guaranteed playing time.
However, that move broke down after issues arose in his medical, although these problems have since been cleared up after Nusa went for further tests with the Norwegian national team.
Amid Spurs’ continued interest, Wenham has revealed that he respected Nusa’s decision to sign for Brentford over Spurs.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I wasn’t surprised at the time that he preferred a move to Brentford.
“He felt it was too big of a move to jump straight from Club Brugge to Tottenham and I respect that honesty, especially from such a young player.
“I have no qualms with him selecting Brentford over us but obviously, that move broke down and if Tottenham were to revisit any potential transfer, I am certain it would be on different terms.
“He’s an exciting young player, he’ll be on the shortlist of Tottenham as well as plenty of other Premier League clubs, of course whether or not they can afford him is a different matter.”
Could Antonio Nusa still end up playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
Plenty of Spurs supporters were left disappointed when Nusa opted to sign for the Bees instead of joining up with Ange Postecoglou’s side in North London.
However, after such a dramatic twist, Nusa remains in Belgium with Club Brugge and could yet be on the move in the summer.
Spurs are clearly keen on signing the winger and could learn from previous mistakes and act more quickly in June, to avoid once again being beaten to the punch by a Premier League rival.

Nusa has played regularly for Brugge since his move to Brentford broke down, suggesting that the issues which arose in his Brentford medical might not be as serious as they first appeared.
Should he end up sealing a summer switch to N17, it would certainly cap off one of the more dramatic bits of Tottenham transfer business in recent years.
