Tottenham Exclusive: Major Guglielmo Vicario injury update emerges
Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario appears close to making his first-team return post-injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims he may need to play a reserve game before he’s ready to return to senior football in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has been out of action for Spurs since 23 November – when they beat Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Discussing the state of play with Vicario exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.
“Sounds like he is progressively increasing how much weight he’s putting on the ankle and how much time he’s in a boot,” he said.
“This will be a sensitive time when you start to load and then see how he responds.
“If he responds well, then you progress to higher intensity and load.
“He does appear close to returning to first-team football and may need to play a game or two with the reserves before he’s ready to start again.“
Tottenham will be waiting for Guglielmo Vicario’s return
Vicario has undoubtedly been a huge miss for Spurs this season as he’s fundamental to the way Postecoglou wants to play.
The North London club signed Antonin Kinsky in January, but his presence between the sticks is not the same as the Italian.
The Spurs number one conceded 15 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions while Kinsky has conceded 11 in just seven games.

Antonin Kinsky struggled against Liverpool
The Czech goalkeeper’s flaws were on display in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool when his side lost 4-0.
He made glaring errors with regard to his collection and distribution and was not commanding in the penalty area.
Kinsky certainly needs to improve if Spurs are to win games and climb up the table.
It seems evident that once Vicario is fit, he will be back in the playing eleven, moving the January signing back to the bench.
However, for a few more games, the club will have to ensure that Kinsky does better between the sticks as there are no other suitable replacements.
