Tottenham: Dressing room message emerges in Premier League race reveal
Tottenham players in the dressing room will know that they are more than capable of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League this season, according to Alan Hutton.
Ange Postecoglou’s side missed the chance to move above Aston Villa and into the Premier League top four ahead of the March international break as they were easily beaten 3-0 by Fulham at Craven Cottage last time out.
While Unai Emery’s side welcome Wolves to Villa Park on Saturday (30 March) Spurs face Luton Town first and a win will see Postecoglou’s team jump back into the Champions League places, even if only for a matter of hours.
Although Hutton has admitted Tottenham have been frustratingly inconsistent this season, he believes every player in the Spurs side will be hoping and expecting to win every game between now and the end of the season.
“I think they will always have that hope and belief more than anything,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“They are more than capable, they have got a strong squad, they have shown they can comfortably beat Villa so they will feel they can beat any team.
“I don’t think in this period of time where there are no games that they will really reflect that much on it, everybody’s away on international duty they won’t really think about it.
“But they’ll know within that dressing room that they’re more than capable of getting fourth spot it’s just can you put a run together between now and the end of the season?
“With the fixtures they’ve got coming up I think they’ll be looking at it and saying we should be getting maximum points, so that’s what they’ll be looking at and hoping teams around them will drop points.”
Can Ange Postecoglou help Tottenham qualify for the Champions League this season?
Spurs may be behind Villa in the current league table, but they have shown that they are capable of standing toe-to-toe with anyone they’ll face between now and the end of the season, it’s just a question of whether they’ll be able to find the consistency needed.

While Villa or Manchester United dropping points would benefit Postecoglou and his side, they cannot afford to find themselves in a position where they are relying on other teams slipping up to secure their place in the top four.
Hopefully, the belief Hutton has insisted remains in the changing room, partnered with the quality of the likes of Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Richarlison will be enough for Spurs to get back to winning ways against Luton.
