Tottenham: Dejan Kuluveski wows expert as Spurs star flies under the radar for Ange Postecoglou

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose believes Dejan Kulusevski is showing signs of improvement under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Spurs signed Kulusevski from Juventus on an initial 18-month loan deal which cost the North London outfit £8.3million (Sky Sports News, 31 January 2022).

The Sweden international settled in quickly to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in his first 18 Premier League appearances at the backend of the 2021/22 campaign.

He struggled slightly the following year in his first full season in England’s top flight, finding the back of the net just twice while providing seven assists across 30 appearances.

Nonetheless, Tottenham opted to make his move permanent, with the 23-year-old signing a five-year contract ahead of the 2023/24 season getting underway, with Spurs paying Juventus a fee of £25million (via BBC Sport, 17 June 2023).

He has so far scored six goals this season, a Premier League-best for the winger, and Wenham believes that Postecoglou is having a positive impact on the forward’s progress.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “Kulusevski is flying under the radar a bit, but he is having a quietly effective season.

“His goal against Wolves was his sixth in the Premier League this year, which is already triple the total of two he got across the entire 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

“He’s really improved his output. He’s normally the player who gets the assist for the assist, but he is scoring more now, which is good to see.”

Dejan Kulusevski still has plenty of time to improve at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

As Postecoglou previously pointed out, Kulusevski can still reach new levels at Tottenham.

He has already recorded his best goalscoring season in a Spurs shirt this year, with another 12 games left of the 2023/24 campaign to add to that tally.

Still only 23, the Swede has plenty of time to improve under Postecoglou with the Australian’s play style clearly suited to his forward.

Kulusevski will be looking to find the back of the net a few more times between now and the end of the season as he looks to help push Spurs toward UEFA Champions League qualification.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham is a “fan” of a Spurs-linked Euro ace who has previously been pictured in the club’s colours.
