Tottenham: Daniel Levy questioned as Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze transfer updates emerge

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be unlikely to pay the fee required to sign both Eberechi Eze and Pedro Neto in the summer transfer window, according to Alan Hutton.

Spurs have already been linked with a number of attacking options ahead of the summer transfer window, with the most recent suggestion being that Postecoglou is looking towards established talent in the Premier League.

Eze and Neto are reportedly Tottenahm’s primary targets [The Independent, 28 February] but it is understood that Palace’s midfield star favours a move to Manchester City, while Neto could cost upwards of £80million [David Ornstein, 22 February].

While Hutton believes both players would be capable of taking Postecoglou’s side “up a gear” he has admitted that he can’t see Spurs chairman Levy signing off on both deals in a single transfer window.

“These are options that he will have,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“When Maddison was out injured, Spurs maybe struggled in that number 10 role a little bit. Eze is a cracking talent and a great player. I think it would cost more than £35million to get him, I don’t think it would be that cheap, it would be a lot more.

“That would be an interesting one, he would suit that team with no problem. Neto is a fantastic player, it’s a lot of money of course, but if you’re spending that sort of money he’s coming into play week in and week out.

“Is Daniel Levy going to spend that amount on two players? That’s probably the question mark, but when you’ve got players like that coming into your team or squad, it definitely takes you up a gear.

“That’s where they want to be and I think they need options higher up the pitch, but look it’s going to be difficult to get those two I think.”

Will Daniel Levy sanction Tottenham transfers for Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze?

It is clear that Postecoglou believes that his side needs further additions in the wide areas to become a genuine force in the Premier League, but it remains uncertain whether Levy will be willing to spend that sort of money.

The Tottenham chairman has never been willing to throw money around in the transfer window, but if he wants his team to be successful in Europe and the Premier League, he may have to back his manager in the market.

However, it seems more likely at this moment in time Spurs will opt to make Timo Werner’s loan stay in North London permanent and potentially pass on both Eze and Neto as they look for a cheaper option.
