Tottenham: Daniel Levy masterplan backed at Tottenham if one criteria met

Daniel Levy’s new plan to host more events at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has the backing of Paul Robinson but only on one condition.

Lilywhite Rose posted on X (28 February) to share that Spurs have signalled their intention to boost the number of none-football events hosted at the stadium to 30 per year, up from the current level of 16.

The likes of Beyonce and Pearl Jam have played at the stadium, while heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has fought Dereck Chisora at the venue.

Spurs’ state-of-the-art stadium is considered one of the best in the world and is a key component of making Tottenham so commercially successful off the pitch.

Ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Robinson is all for growing the use of the stadium but on the condition it does not affect what Ange Postecoglou and his team are doing on the pitch.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “The stadium is one of the best in the world, it’s a multisport arena it’s not a football stadium it’s a multisport arena.

“But it’s primarily built as a football stadium, which is an incredible achievement to have. Have as many events there as you can, so long as it doesn’t affect the football, the whole thing is Tottenham Hotspur and it’s the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“If at any point the events become detrimental to what Ange and his team want to do, whether it be training, whether it be matches, whether it be the quality of the pitch (they need to reconsider).

“If there is no detriment to the quality of the pitch or detriment of the team then put as many events on there as you can. Business wise we know that Tottenham are the richest club in London, we know that they have the best stadium in the world, the best training ground in the world, make use of it, they are doing and they have done.

“The more events they get there the more global recognition they get, the bigger the club grows, the bigger the brand grows.

“But the priority is Tottenham Hotspur and the football team, so long as there’s no detriment to them, hold events all year round.”

Should the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium host more events?

Robinson is right that it is the importance of the team that has to come first but in this day and age the two kind of go hand-in-hand.

With clubs looking at ways to increase revenue streams to stave of the threat of falling foul of Profit and Sustainability rules, to have a stadium so commercially viable is a huge plus for Spurs.

Thus far it has been a huge success using the stadium to host superstars and other events, so why not increase that stream of revenue?

The team will always come first but if Tottenham want to continue growing to the next level then commercial opportunities like this simply have to be seized.

In other Tottenham news, a permanent exit for Sergio Reguilon is surely on the cards.
