Richarlison’s Tottenham future looks uncertain ahead of the January transfer window.

Talks have been held over a January transfer with clubs in Brazil showing an interest [via TNT Sports Brasil, 21 December].

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Spurs would be forced to pay some of the wages if Richarlison were to move back to his home country on loan.

“I’m not sure any club in Brazil could afford him,” Wenham said.

“I don’t think they would be able to pay a decent fee and then on top of that another £100,000 per week in wages. Richarlison is available for interested clubs.

“However, it will cost a certain amount of money, which Brazilian clubs cannot afford, unless perhaps Tottenham agree to a subsidised loan deal, which is a possibility.”

Tottenham to loan Richarlison to club in Brazil?

Richarlison has hardly been available for selection this season. Therefore, Spurs might be tempted to field offers from interested clubs.

If the striker was able to remain fit between now and the end of the season he could be a useful squad member for Ange Postecoglou. However, there is no guarantee he will do that.

As a result, the best course of action would be to move him out on loan and get his wages off the books. However, if clubs in Brazil cannot afford to cover the player’s entire salary, Spurs should look elsewhere, with Everton mooted as a potential destination.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou has been blamed after what one of his players did recently.
