Tottenham could face ‘disastrous’ Ange Postecoglou setback just one season after Celtic move
It is inevitable that Tottenham would face interest in Ange Postecoglou from top European clubs if they don’t qualify for the Champions League, says Paul Robinson.
The pundit is hopeful that the Australian can lead the club into the premier European competition this year but after a stunning run to start his Spurs career the form has become much more inconsistent and the 2-1 home loss to Wolves this weekend left them fifth, which may or may not be good enough to get in this year.
Should the club finish in the top four Robinson believes there will be “no decision for him to make”, but anything else and it is a genuine concern that a “disastrous” exit could be on the cards if Champions League clubs come knocking with managerial vacancies to fill in the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News he said: “I would like to think that from a Tottenham point of view that they will be in the Champions League next season and there’s no decision for him to make.
“The relationship that he’s got with the Tottenham fans, the way that he’s brought the club together, it would be disastrous if he was to leave.
“But yeah absolutely you’re concerned because as soon as you get a successful manager you’re going to get admiring glances from around Europe if you are not one of the top European teams. That’s always going to be a problem.”
Champions League football to keep Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Postecoglou himself has managed in the Champions League previously with Celtic and likely wouldn’t see it as a prerequisite to staying after just one Premier League season.
But it is already known that the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool are going to be looking for a new manager in the summer after both Xavi and Jurgen Klopp announced they would step down respectively.
So while it is surely unlikely that the Spurs boss ends up being one and done in North London it can’t entirely be ruled out if a big offer to him, and to the club, was put on the table.
