Tottenham could accept ‘considerable’ Real Madrid bid for Romero and van de Ven
Tottenham could allow both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to join Real Madrid.
As reported by Relevo (28 December), Real Madrid are on the lookout for a new centre-back and are admirers of van de Ven.
Meanwhile, TyC Sports previously reported (9 September) that Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Real Madrid all approached Tottenham about signing Romero last summer.
And while ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks the two centre-backs would cost a lot of money, he also doesn’t think Spurs would stand in the defenders’ way of a move to Real Madrid if a sizeable offer were to arrive.
“I think Real Madrid are constantly looking at Romero and van de Ven,” King said.
“They don’t make many mistakes when it comes to the transfer market. If you’re looking at top defenders, then those two would certainly come into that bracket.
“When they’re both fit and playing, they’re as good as anything there is anywhere in Europe. Therefore, the pair of them would cost a considerable amount of money. Tottenham couldn’t afford to sell them both. However, money talks and it has always talked at Tottenham.
“As a result, if the fee is right, Tottenham will not stand in the way of Romero and van de Ven leaving.”
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to quit Tottenham and join Real Madrid?
It is hard to imagine that either Romero or van de Ven would refuse a move to Madrid, with another defender in North London thought to dream of a move to Los Blancos.
Therefore, if the Spanish giants come calling, and Tottenham are willing to accept an offer, it seems as though a deal could be done, although this might be to the annoyance of supporters.

Some fans would question why the club would allow their two main centre-backs to leave. However, when it comes to the transfer market, Daniel Levy tends to operate on his own accord.
In other Tottenham news, the club are open to selling one player in January after what has happened.
