Tottenham captain Son Heung-min will feature against Brighton – Spurs Expert

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min will feature against Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 10 February, according to ex-Spurs scout Bryan King.

Son has returned to Hotspur Way after South Korea were knocked out of the AFC Asian Cup via a 2-0 defeat to Jordan in the semi-final on Tuesday 6 February (Standard Sport, 8 February).

His return will be a huge boost for Ange Postecoglou and Spurs as they prepare to host Brighton in the Premier League this weekend, and King believes that the forward will play a part against the Seagulls.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “That was a shock for South Korea to get knocked out of the Asian Cup by Jordan, I couldn’t believe that result.

“I think Son will be used on Saturday. If he is fit, he will be in the squad, either on the bench or in the starting lineup.

“Having the captain back will give the team a big lift, it will show that he wants to be seen with the team fighting the cause for the club in the Premier League.

“Unless he has an injury, for me there is no excuse for him not to play on Saturday. He is the man who inspires the other players in the team and he will get playing time in some shape or form.

“He is a professional, he will want to deliver. He knows Spurs are fighting for UEFA Champions League qualification, and the only way to do that is by picking up results and Son is a player who has proven many times that he can perform at the highest level.”

Spurs will be delighted to have Son back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Son is Spurs’ top scorer this season and his return will bring a much-needed boost to the club.

After dropping two points at Goodison Park in disappointing fashion last time out as Jarrad Branthwaite scored a 94th-minute equaliser to make it 2-2 on Saturday 3 February, Postecoglou and his players will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Brighton have been in mixed form as of late and were beaten 4-0 by Luton Town in their last match away from home (30 January).

As a result, Spurs will be confident that they can pick up three points against Roberto De Zerbi’s side, and if Son is involved, it will certainly boost their chances of doing just that.
