Tottenham: Brandon Austin mooted to quit Spurs amid suspected contract decision
John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose believes goalkeeper Brandon Austin could quit Tottenham this summer.
Austin is yet to feature for Spurs’ first team despite recently turning 25.
The goalkeeper emerged through the club’s youth ranks, making 45 appearances for the Under-21s, and has been sent out on two different loan spells.
However, he is yet to be handed his senior debut in North London, having featured regularly on the bench in the Premier League across the past three seasons, and with his contract set to expire in June, Wenham believes that the shot-stopper might finally be set to move on.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “Austin perhaps doesn’t want to sit around forever at Tottenham.
“Right now, he is just ticking a box as a homegrown player in the first-team squad, and he might want to go out there and start playing regularly himself.
“He might have already made the decision not to renew at Tottenham with his contract set to expire this summer, and Spurs might soon be forced to look for a homegrown goalkeeper to take his place in the squad.”
Brandon Austin must move on from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
If Austin wants to push on in his career, it is important that he opts against renewing his terms at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June, and instead looks for a move away from his boyhood club.
With 27-year-old Guglielmo Vicario taking over from the recently departed Hugo Lloris as the club’s new number one, and several exciting young goalkeepers behind him, this feels like the perfect time for Austin to leave.
He will feel frustrated having come so close to representing Tottenham at senior level, but if he stays any longer, he is at risk of wasting his best years on the bench.

Austin will no doubt be desperate to play, and why Spurs supporters haven’t seen much of him, saying goodbye to an academy prospect who has clearly made an impact around the first-team changing room is never easy.
