Tottenham backed to sign Festy Ebosele by former Spurs employee as fresh transfer news emerges
Tottenham should look to complete the signing of Udinese right-back Festy Ebosele, according to ex-Spurs scout Bryan King.
As reported exclusively by HITC (23 February), Spurs are one of several English clubs interested in the Republic of Ireland international.
Ebosele has started 19 times in the Serie A this season having moved to Italy from Derby County in 2022.
During his time at the Pride Park Stadium, he featured under ex-Manchester United and England international Wayne Rooney, who spoke highly of the defender.
As per Derbyshire Live, in March 2022 Rooney was quoted as saying, “I said a few months ago he can be a superstar, he can be what he wants. He really needs to keep his focus, his concentration, and keep learning to develop.
“Just by sheer pace and power alone, he has got something which every player wants. The next part of that is the details, which I talk about after the games. Details to his game. If he gets them right, he can go right to the top.”
Following their previous successes shopping in the Serie A, King believes that Ebosele could be the perfect addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad in N17.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “It could be useful to have some cover on the right because they are pretty strong down the left.
“He sounds like he is the right player to bring in. He is a good age, he has got enough Italian connections at the club with Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario, so I imagine it would be easy for him to settle in.
“By the sound of his pedigree, he sounds like someone who could stand in for Pedro Porro and give Tottenham more depth in their squad. I think this signing would be a good idea.”
Could Tottenham sign Festy Ebosele to play under Ange Postecoglou?
After the success of Udogie, who joined Spurs from Udinese, it is no surprise that the club is tempted to once again raid the Serie A side.
Emerson Royal struggled to replicate the form of Pedro Porro in Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Saturday 17 February, and it is clear that the North London side need more options in that area of the pitch.

Ebosele can operate as a wing-back, and his pace and power make him more suited to play under Posteocglou than Emerson.
With teams such as Everton, West Ham United and Leeds United reportedly interested, there is no reason why Spurs can’t win the race for his signature.
In other Tottenham news, one on-loan Spurs ace could yet save his career in North London after his recent “outstanding” form.
