Tottenham backed to complete ‘phenomenal’ Conor Gallagher deal after Chelsea transfer reveal

John Wenham wants Tottenham to complete the signing of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher after a recent transfer reveal.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that the 24-year-old would be an upgrade on some of the club’s existing options in midfield.

It comes after an update in The Sun (12 April) which revealed that Spurs hope to tie up a quick deal for Gallagher this summer, with Chelsea holding out for a fee of at least £40million.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Gallagher is a player whom Ange Postecoglou would welcome with open arms.

“I like Gallagher a lot, I think that he’s a really good player,” Wenham said.

“He is a character who Postecoglou would definitely like working with, a proper leader who has captained Chelsea on multiple occasions this season.

“To me, he would be an improvement on the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso, who could both be moved on.

“Gallagher would be a phenomenal upgrade, and someone who I’d very much like to see brought to the club.”

Could Tottenham bring Conor Gallagher to North London to play under Ange Postecoglou?

Chelsea will likely be hesitant to sell such a key player to a direct rival.

Luckily for Spurs and Daniel Levy, financial troubles at Stamford Bridge might leave the Blues with little choice.

Gallagher is a hard-working midfielder who would likely thrive under Postecoglou.

He is a young player with plenty of Premier League experience and that mix of youth and experience could make him the perfect addition to Tottenham’s midfield.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou has suffered a “huge blow” with one player set to miss out against Arsenal.
