Tottenham backed for top-four finish already next season as Lewis Family set for ‘massive’ summer

Tottenham have been backed to return straight back to the Premier League top four next season.

Tottenham have had a miserable campaign this time around, sitting 16th in the division, just above the relegation zone.

Igor Tudor is currently trying to keep them in the top-flight, but he is not expected to take over permanently at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Brighter times could be on the horizon, if the Lewis Family and the board play their cards right.

Why can Tottenham finish in the top four next season?

John Wenham believes that Spurs could have a magnificent campaign next season, if Mauricio Pochettino is in charge and is backed significantly.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “We’ve just had the January window when Conor Gallagher was signed immediately after Rodrigo Bentancur picked up an injury, basically putting him out for this season.

“That was a reactive signing rather than proactive, and the Brazilian left-back Sousa, whom we’ve seen once, so it’s very hard to give any credit to the new ownership team at the moment, it’s all wait and see.

“At the moment we’ve just heard these reports, you know, we made the best financial offer for Semenyo, who cares?

“Massive summer for that ownership if they want to show Tottenham fans their plans and their intentions, and they’re going to have to spend extremely, deep pockets in the summer to reinvest this squad because a Tottenham side under Pochettino playing one game a week next season, because we’re not going to be in Europe, could very easily, if invested well, come straight back into the top four next season.

“People will laugh at me now when I say that, but I genuinely believe that.

“Playing one game a week under a new manager, we’ve got extremely good players when they’re fit and firing and when they’re confident, You have got people like Dejan Kulusevski who hasn’t played the whole season, James Maddison, just to drop those two back into what we’ve already got.

“If you have a big summer where, say, seven, eight, nine go out and you only bring in five or six, but five or six that are top quality, Tottenham could very easily do very well next season.”

Why most Tottenham fans won’t be feeling so bright

Wenham’s optimism is probably not shared by many Spurs supporters at the moment, especially given how the likes of Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham have operated so far.

They did not address many of the squad’s needs in the winter window, and despite backing Thomas Frank heavily in the summer, most of the signings have not paid off.

With their dismal league position, many fans will struggle to see how they turn it all around.
