Tottenham at different end of scale to Arsenal as £200m divide detailed

John Wenham believes that Tottenham and Arsenal are operating at two ends of the scale ahead of the North London derby.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that the transfers of Harry Kane and Declan Rice last summer epitomise both clubs’ ambition.

Ange Postecoglou will welcome Mikel Arteta and his players to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 28 April.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that Spurs could struggle.

“There is not much in this title race, just a matter of points, and Tottenham need to put on a performance to try and stop Arsenal,” Wenham said.

“But look, Arsenal are in phenomenal form, and it is going to be a tough game because they have some incredible players.

“Sadly if you look at last summer, Spurs sold their best player in Harry Kane, while Arsenal went and signed arguably their best player in Declan Rice, both transfers for around £100million.

“That shows two clubs perhaps operating at different ends of the scale, unfortunately.”

Ange Postecoglou must look to bridge the gap between Arsenal and Tottenham next season

After six consecutive seasons finishing above their noisy neighbours, Spurs have had to watch Arsenal push on over the past two years and compete in back-to-back title races.

Supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be tired of becoming Manchester City fans for the final two months of the season and will hope next year is different.

Postecoglou must look to take Spurs to the next level, much like Arteta has done with Arsenal, and three points on Sunday would go a long way in proving that the club are ready to do just that.

In other Tottenham news, the club have been told to complete a “positive” transfer after a recent Fabrizio Romano update.
