Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou ‘headache’ emerges ahead of Fulham clash amid Destiny Udogie update

Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie could be rested by Ange Postecoglou against Fulham after picking up a “sore” knock during the win over Aston Villa, according to Alan Hutton.

Spurs claimed all three points at Villa Park on Sunday (10 March) with an excellent 4-0 win, but Ange Postecoglou’s side were boosted by a second-half sending-off for John McGinn after the Scotsman’s heavy challenge on Udogie.

The Italian left-back, who has only recently returned from injury, managed to stay on the field for the remainder of the clash and still impressed despite falling to the ground in a heap following McGinn’s dangerous tackle.

While Postecoglou hasn’t suggested that the 21-year-old could be sidelined for Saturday’s (16 March) clash with Fulham, Hutton admits that the Spurs boss may make a couple of alterations to his backline at Craven Cottage.

“He’s obviously going to have to make changes,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“When you think of Van de Ven that’s out now, Werner comes on and gets a goal and Johnson did really well. He’s got options and I think as a manager that’s what you need.

“You want to have that headache and say ‘He’s really pushing me to play, that person’s really pushing me to play, what am I going to do?’ That’s what you want ultimately.

“Depending on the squad he’s got, obviously Udogie got a sore one, there might be one or two changes but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Will Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie be fit to start for Tottenham against Fulham?

Postecoglou has already confirmed that it is incredibly unlikely that Micky van de Ven will be fit to start against Fulham, however, it does appear as though the Dutchman’s hamstring issue isn’t as serious as many first feared.

That has opened the door for Radu Dragusin to make his first Premier League start following his January move from Genoa, but the Romanian may not be the only change on Saturday as Postecoglou is set to tinker with his squad.

Spurs have plenty of options in their squad, at both ends of the field and that has allowed the Tottenham boss to genuinely rest and rotate his team effectively to deal with the challenges of the Premier League season.

In other Tottenham news, Hutton has suggested that teams will already be “watching” Pape Sarr ahead of the summer transfer window
