Tottenham and Celtic agreement over Ange Postecoglou speculated amid Matt O’Riley transfer update
John Wenham is not keen on Tottenham signing Matt O’Riley from Celtic this summer amid reported interest in the midfielder.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes Ange Postecoglou might have had a clause in his Celtic departure which prevented him from signing players from his former club last summer.
It comes after Give Me Sport reported (14 May) that Spurs and West Ham are interested in O’Riley, with Postecoglou keen to seal a reunion with the Denmark international.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has questioned why the Spurs boss didn’t move for any Celtic players previously.
“We didn’t see Postecoglou look to sign any Celtic players last summer,” Wenham said.
“Perhaps there was a clause in his deal when he left Celtic that prevented him from signing players from the club.
“That would have likely expired after one year, and maybe that is why Spurs are now keen on signing O’Riley.
“He’s not a player that I would have had high on my list of targets.”
Ange Postecoglou could help lure Matt O’Riley to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
O’Riley would likely be more than keen to work with Postecoglou again.
The two shared plenty of success in Glasgow, and a move to work under the Australian in the Premier League would surely be enticing.

However, with a host of other European clubs interested (via The Independent, 22 May), Spurs would need to be quick to beat out the competition ahead of what is set to be a busy summer for the club.
This transfer could perhaps therefore come down to how keen Postecoglou is to reunite with O’Riley.
