Bryan King believes a deal will be agreed between Tottenham and AC Milan for Emerson Royal.

The ex-Spurs scout claims the defender has become "surplus to requirements" since Ange Postecoglou arrived in North London.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (24 July), AC Milan had new contacts with Spurs for Emerson with talks ongoing between the clubs.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - has suggested that Emerson will eventually get his move.

"I am sure a deal will get done," King said.

"What Emerson wants is regular football, and if he has been promised that at AC Milan then good luck to him. It doesn't look as if he will be playing regularly at Tottenham.

"He has been surplus to requirements under Postecoglou. Tottenham are quite strong defensively and I therefore think the deal will get done."

This is a transfer saga which has been rumbling on all summer.

Emerson is not a key player in North London and he will no doubt be keen to secure a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, Spurs clearly have no interest in accepting a deal which isn't on their terms.

Neither club appears keen to budge, and this could therefore drag on for the entire summer.

Emerson has been included in Spurs' pre-season tour of Asia. However, it is hard to see him playing much football under Postecoglou next season.

As a result, Emerson and Postecoglou will likely both be hoping that a deal can be agreed between the two clubs.
