Sources: Tottenham make contract decision on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will not be offered a new contract in North London, Tottenham News has been told.

The Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ever since Ange Postecoglou arrived at the club.

After being a mainstay in Spurs’ starting lineups for the past few years, the midfielder has started just five Premier League games this term.

As a result, a recruitment source with links to Spurs has revealed to Tottenham News that the 28-year-old will be moved on from the club in the summer if he doesn’t leave this month.

Hojbjerg has 18 months left to run on his Tottenham contract, and Tottenham News has learned that he will not be offered a new deal by the club.

The player himself is keen to leave in search of more regular first-team football.

Sky Sports News recently reported online in their live transfer centre (16 January, 5:48 pm) that Hojbjerg’s situation at the club is set to go down to the final days of the window, with Spurs not willing to accept a cut-price deal for the former Southampton man who has attracted interest from the Serie A.

Tottenham News has been told that the club are still in a decent position with Hojbjerg, with the player still set to be worth a sum of money when the summer comes around if a solution is not found for him this month.

Spurs signed Hojbjerg from Southampton three and a half years ago in a deal worth a reported £15million (Sky Sports News, 12 August 2020).

He started all 38 Premier League matches in his debut season at the club, and has made 167 appearances for Tottenham in total, scoring 10 goals and providing 16 assists.
