Sky Sports journalist blasted over £83m Tottenham transfer story
Paul Robinson has rubbished a report linking Tottenham with a January move for Borussia Dortmund attacker Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
Spurs are said to be closely monitoring the 20-year-old winger, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, a player who the German side have slapped an £83million price tag on.
It is understood that Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on the situation, with Dortmund tempted to cash in on their star forward, but this report has been batted away in North London.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, BBC Sport pundit Robinson said: “The journalist clearly doesn’t know Tottenham Hotspur very well if he’s linking them with an £83million player – it’s poor journalism for me.”
Tottenham already ruled out of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens transfer race?
Given Daniel Levy’s extreme lack of spending at Hotspur Way, something even called out by Cristian Romero, it seems highly unlikely that Spurs would be involved in this transfer race.
It is a shame, though. The 20-year-old has hit the ground running in Germany since leaving Manchester City in 2021, making a total of 80 appearances for Dortmund.
He already has five goals and three assists in the Bundesliga this term, with many clubs around Europe sitting up and taking notice, but that has only seen his potential price tag rise through the roof.
Bynoe-Gittens has already been suggested to be the “next Sancho, Erling Haaland or Bellingham” by Karl-Heinz Riedle [The Sun], and while those are big shoes to fill, he is certainly doing his best.

Praise such as that, of course, comes hand-in-hand with a rather hefty fee which is likely to already rule Ange Postecoglou’s side out of contention.
Supporters are already set to have protests over the coming games due to Levy’s leadership in North London [GiveMeSport] and this will just be another piece of evidence for them to use against the owner.
In other Tottenham news, a timeline has emerged on when Spurs could pull the trigger on Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.
