Rodrigo Bentancur return date mooted after Tottenham injury update
Ange Postecoglou has provided an injury update on Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.
The 27-year-old was stretchered off after collapsing during the 1-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg win over Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday (8 January).
Postecoglou has confirmed that Bentancur suffered a concussion and will spend a couple of weeks sidelined [via Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 10 January].
And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – expects the Uruguay international to return for the UEFA Europa League clash with Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Thursday 23 January.
“It looked terrible at the time,” Wenham said.
“Everybody was obviously fearing the worst. However, it sounds like it was just a concussion, which means he will only miss the next couple of fixtures.
“It was disappointing to see Bentancur forced off because Spurs started that game really well, and Bentancur was quite a key part of that. After he went off, Liverpool got a bit of control.
“However, great news that he is better, and we obviously look forward to welcoming him back.”
Rodrigo Bentancur to return for Tottenham v Hoffenheim?
Postecoglou is already without several key players. Therefore, he will be hoping to get Bentancur back playing as soon as possible, especially with pressure still on the Australian.
However, he won’t want to rush the ex-Juventus man back into action, especially considering the nature of his injury.

As a result, it seems as though Postecoglou will have to be patient and wait until Bentancur is ready.
