Questions for Daniel Levy as Tottenham set to miss out on Antonio Nusa after Fabrizio Romano update – Spurs Expert
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent six years as a senior scout at Spurs and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent eight years on Everton’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells.
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has questioned Daniel Levy as Tottenham look set to be beaten to the signing of Antonio Nusa by London rivals Brentford.
It had been widely reported that the North London club were pursuing the Norwegian winger, with Fabrizio Romano reporting via his official X account (20 January) that Spurs were “pushing” to get a deal across the line.
However, the Italian journalist has now provided a fresh update once again via his official X account (28 January), revealing that the 18-year-old is now on the verge of joining Brentford.
Spurs look set to miss out on one of their key targets, and King has questioned how the club have allowed this to happen.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “These types of players would have been recommended to Tottenham for a while now.
“Spurs would have been aware of Nusa two or three years ago, but they didn’t act and now look set to miss out, which is sad. You would hope Spurs have something else lined up if they are allowing a transfer target to slip through their grasp.
“I think he would have fit nicely into the Tottenham team, he would have done really well on the left-hand side for Ange Postecoglou.
“This will certainly add a bit of intrigue when Spurs and Brentford play each other on Wednesday night. For a club who have a budget probably not even a third the size of Spurs’, it shows that they work hard with their recruitment and that they have people in the right places.
“Talks between Club Brugge and Tottenham had been happening for a while now, so it appears that the club have been sitting on their hands instead of getting the deal across the line as they should have done. Is [Daniel] Levy to blame for this?”
In other Tottenham news, another Spurs expert has speculated that the club have made an approach for one player amid an £18.5million update this week.
