Pundit tells fans to ‘trust the process’ over Tottenham signing made in 2023
We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Alan Hutton has told Tottenham fans to “trust the process” after suggesting not many supporters will be personally checking on the progress of teenager Luka Vuskovic.
It was announced back in September that Spurs had agreed a deal to sign the 16-year-old Croatian from Hadjuk Split in 2025 on a deal until 2030 (BBC Sport).
The prodigious teenager, who cannot join Spurs until he is 18 due to FIFA transfer rules, was highly sought after but only made his debut for Hadjuk back in February.

As such, former Spurs defender Hutton – now a BBC Sport pundit – thinks there will be a lid on any excitement Spurs fans are showing for Vuskovic.
“It is a long-term investment, let’s not kid ourselves on I don’t think many fans will be looking out for all these kind of games,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“It can be difficult to focus on exactly everything that’s happening with every single player, much like myself.

“You don’t see all these games, we’ll have to wait and see, they trust the process that’s why you have people looking after these guys.”
Football London (19 December) reported that the deal to sign Vuskovic cost Spurs £12million, high numbers for a teenager but a fee that will represent a bargain if he does manage to live up to his billing.
Vuskovic has yet to play for Hadjuk this season, although he has featured in their matchday squad on six occasions.
In other Tottenham News, our sources hinted Kalvin Phillips will be Spurs’ number one January target.
