Pundit moots ‘ideal’ loan move for Tottenham prospect Jude Soonsup-Bell after Fabrizio Romano update

We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

A loan to a club battling for promotion from the Championship would be the “ideal move” for Tottenham Under-21 prospect Jude Soonsup-Bell, says Alan Hutton.

The talented youngster has nine goals and five assists from 12 games this season and Spurs are reportedly ready to sanction a temporary switch away in the January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano reported on his X account (2 January) that clubs in the Championship and League One are ready to make a move for Soonsup-Bell.

It remains to be seen where he does go but Hutton – speaking to Tottenham News – said the important thing is to make sure he joins a club that suits his style, though joining a team fighting at the top would be preferable.

“I think you’re best going to a club that suits your ability and what type of player you are,” he said.

“If you’re a player who likes to get on the ball and make passes and do different things there’s no point going to a team who plays long ball.

“I think first and foremost the club needs to suit you, ideally you want to go to a top team where they are playing football and they are playing with confidence they’re going for the title.

“I mean these are things you want to be involved in so that would be an ideal move, whether these top teams need a player themselves we’ll have to wait and see but you have to go to the best team that suits you.”
