Postecoglou ‘to be sacked’ after Tottenham developments ahead of Europa League final
Tottenham face Manchester United in a Europa League final that will define their season on Wednesday.
Both sides have struggled in the Premier League, sitting above the relegation simply by the virtue of how bad the newly-promoted teams have been.
Ange Postecoglou has endured a miserable campaign in his second season in the Spurs dugout, but could still deliver on his promise of a trophy in his sophomore year.
The Australian will take confidence in the Lilywhites’ record against their Europa League final opponents this season already.
Tottenham record against Man United counts for nothing
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium outfit has beaten the Old Trafford side on every occasion they have faced off this season.
Postecoglou’s team beat United 3-0 away in September, 4-3 in the EFL Cup quarter-final clash in December and 1-0 at home in the league when the sides last met.

However, iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that Spurs’ Jekyll and Hyde nature could come back to bite them in the Bilbao showcase despite their positive record against the Red Devils.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “I don’t think the results of the previous games are relevant at all, this is a different one-off game.
“The clubs are in a different place now, there is silverware and a place in the Champions League on offer.
“I think it really is a 50-50 game, but maybe Manchester United will be slight favourites, simply on the basis that you are never really sure at all what you are going to get from Tottenham.
“Having said that, they did it very well in the semi-final against Bodo/Glimt, pragmatic and professional in that second leg.
“So, let’s hope it is a great game but it has been an embarrassing season for both of them in the league, probably Postecoglou’s only chance of keeping the job is getting the trophy.
“Maybe, he won’t even keep the job if they do. I don’t think he will survive.”
Tottenham need to win in Bilbao
There is no other acceptable outcome for Daniel Levy‘s side, they need to secure silverware and end their 17-year trophy drought in Bilbao.
Their task will be made harder by potential absentees in James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Dejan Kulusevski, who are all set to miss the contest.
Postecoglou has to find a way to cope without them and continue his record against Ruben Amorim’s side, he cannot afford to bow out, if it is his last game in the dugout, without the trophy.
