Postecoglou sack: Ex-Tottenham employee reveals when Levy could fire Spurs boss

Ange Postecoglou is safe at Tottenham for now – but things could soon change for the Australian.

As reported by Alasdair Gold via Football London on Monday (20 January), Spurs are planning to stick by Postecoglou despite the 3-2 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January).

Spurs’ defeat against the Toffees was their 12th in the Premier League this season, which leaves the club 15th in the table as the threat of relegation looms.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Postecoglou’s future at the club will depend upon the Carabao Cup.

“Give him until the Carabao Cup semi-final,” King said.

“Not much is going to change in the Premier League at the moment. Spurs are still eight points clear of the bottom three. Therefore, I’d let things run until the game against Liverpool.

“If they get to the final, it might lift the players and the mood around the club. However, if they don’t get to the final, I think it will be goodnight for Postecoglou at Spurs.”

Tottenham to stick by Ange Postecoglou until Liverpool clash

Spurs will travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday 6 February, with the North London side 1-0 up after the first leg.

Between now and then Postecoglou’s side play just four times – twice in the Premier League and twice in the UEFA Europa League. Therefore, things are unlikely to change too much, with Spurs in a good position to qualify for the next round of the Europa League.

As a result, with the club planning to stick by their manager for now, there is a very good chance that Postecoglou will be in the dugout at Anfield, where he could very well be fighting for his future.
