Pochettino ‘ready to quit USA for Tottenham return’ amid Postecoglou sack latest
Mauricio Pochettino is the leading candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham as a new sack update emerges.
Postecoglou is under serious pressure in North London.
It appears that Daniel Levy would have a range of options to pick from if he were to sack Postecoglou, with Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Thomas Frank all in the running.
However, Pochettino is the current favourite to succeed Postecoglou.
Images have emerged recently of the current USA head coach with Levy in Hadley Wood, North London, and it appears as though Pochettino might not have to wait much longer to seal an emotional Spurs return.
Pochettino ready to replace Postecoglou amid latest from Tottenham
As reported by GiveMeSport (21 March), Spurs could still part ways with Postecoglou even if the club win the UEFA Europa League this season.
That would mean Levy once again hunting for a new manager, and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Pochettino would be ready to accept an offer.
“Some people might think Pochettino wouldn’t walk out on the USA before a World Cup,” Wenham said.
Manager | Win Percentage |
Mauricio Pochettino | 54.27% |
Ange Postecoglou | 48.28% |
“However, this is a guy who seems to spend his spare time hanging around coffee shops in North London, just for fun. Therefore, I think he would come back.
“I also think that if the offer was made clear, and it was a good offer, Pochettino would quit his job with the USA to return to Tottenham, and he would be my number one choice if Postecoglou is sacked.”

Pochettino’s return to Tottenham would be emotional
Not everybody is a fan of the idea of Pochettino returning to Tottenham, with one former employee tearing into the 53-year-old.
However, the Argentine is Spurs’ most successful manager in the Premier League era and took the club close to winning some major honours.
He also built a special bond with the fans. Therefore, whether his appointment would be the right one or not is debatable. However, it would certainly be an emotional one.
