Pochettino ‘desperate’ for Tottenham as possible Postecoglou sack date predicted

Mauricio Pochettino will have one eye on his calendar as a possible date on which Ange Postecoglou could be sacked by Tottenham is predicted.

Postecoglou is under huge pressure at Tottenham, with the Australian clearly feeling the heat after an altercation with a Spurs fan following the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday (16 March).

Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva are both potential options to replace Postecoglou.

However, it also appears a shock Pochettino return is on the cards.

The former Spurs manager has made his desire to return to Tottenham incredibly clear, and it seems as though he might not have to wait long for the potential opportunity.

Postecoglou’s fate lies in the UEFA Europa League

Postecoglou will remain with Tottenham for now.

However, it would appear as though winning the Europa League might be the only way for the 59-year-old to keep his job long-term.

Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested Postecoglou could be sacked as soon as Thursday, 17 April, the day on which Spurs play the second leg of their Europa League last-eight tie against Frankfurt at the Waldstadion.

“If Spurs don’t win the Europa League, I think Postecoglou will be sacked right away,” Wenham said.

Spurs have nothing left to play for in the Premier League

“That seems like it would be the only outcome. In that case, would Pochettino be my first choice to come back? Absolutely. I wouldn’t have got rid of him when we did.

“We have got significantly worse since he left the club and if he wants to come back, I’d have him back in a heartbeat. He would be my first choice. I have never felt happier about supporting the club and more connected to Tottenham than when Pochettino was in charge.

“The club have also never scaled the heights that we did with him in charge since he has left, despite spending more money. I would welcome him back, and it seems he would be desperate to come back.”

Levy would be wise to appoint Pochettino

If Postecoglou is sacked, the mood in North London will likely be incredibly low after yet another failed project under Levy’s ownership.

Therefore, bringing back his most successful manager, who is still perfectly capable of doing a job at Spurs, could prove to be a stroke of genius from Levy.

It would bring the feel-good factor back to Tottenham, and from Levy’s point of view, hopefully take some of the heat off of the Spurs chairman.
