Paul Robinson: James Maddison set to shine at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
James Maddison will perform well at Tottenham under new manager Ange Postecoglou, according to Paul Robinson.
Maddison, who was announced as the north London side’s newest signing on Wednesday (28 June), joined for £40million from recently relegated Leicester City after a stand-out season for the struggling side.
Despite Leicester’s woes, Maddison secured himself a place in Gareth Southgate’s recent England squad and has now secured the biggest move of his career as Tottenham seek to break back into the Champions League under the guidance of the former Celtic manager.

Robinson suggests the player will be a good fit for Postecoglou’s side and will be able to cope with the Australian’s high-tempo football.
“I think he’s an outstanding player. We saw what a quality player he was in a poor Leicester City side last year,” Robinson told Tottenham News.
“When you can stand out as a high-quality player in a team that’s struggling and not doing very well, it shows the quality of the player.
“I think the way Postecoglou plays by being attacking and on the front foot, I think Maddison fits nicely into that Tottenham team.“
While uncertainty remains over the future of Harry Kane at the club, Tottenham fans will take solace in the fact the side are being uncharacteristically proactive in the market this window.
Securing high-quality signings, including new goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, looks to set Spurs up to improve after last season’s tumultuous campaign.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs should avoid the signing of Juventus defender.
