Alan Hutton says Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham will have no intention of changing their style after surviving the “pressure” of their little dip in form.
Spurs defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Friday (15 December) to make it back-to-back victories in the Premier League after they failed to win the previous five, taking just one point in that run despite going in front in every fixture.
It was the first real test Postecoglou had faced during his tenure as Spurs manager after they made a flying start to the campaign.
Former Spurs defender Hutton, now a pundit for the likes of BBC Sport, thinks Postecoglou is being vindicated for sticking to his principles and that he will not alter his style of play moving forward.
Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “They’re away from home, it’s never easy.
“I think it was important that they went there and got another victory, built on their previous performance because they had such a good start to the season.
“I know they had a little dip and you could feel a little bit of pressure and how’s Ange gonna cope with it, but he didn’t change, nothing changed, this is the way I play and let’s continue because I believe in it, players believed in it and results came so that’s how it’s going to be.
“They’re an exciting watch and I don’t think that will change anytime soon.”
Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League table after 17 matches and just a point adrift of reigning champions Manchester City ahead of a busy festive period.
Everton make the trip to north London on Saturday (23 December), before Spurs visit Brighton five days later. They then welcome Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve for their final games of 2023.
