Micky van de Ven role could change at Tottenham over what’s happened to him at Euro 2024

John Wenham claims Ange Postecoglou could play Micky van de Ven at left-back for Tottenham next season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the 23-year-old could feature in this position at the ongoing 2024 UEFA European Championship.

Van de Ven has so far made just one appearance off the bench for the Netherlands at the Euros in Germany.

But Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is not worried about his lack of minutes.

“It seems like if we are going to see van de Ven much more during the Euros, it will be at left-back,” Wenham said.

“It was always going to be hard for him to break into his national team as a centre-back. The Netherlands are blessed with quite a few world-class players in that position already.

“Therefore, perhaps he will start to play more frequently as a left-back for Tottenham, that could be an interesting option for Postecoglou.”

Will Ange Postecoglou move Micky van de Ven to left-back for Tottenham?

With Destiny Udogie out injured during the latter part of the 2023/24 campaign, van de Ven featured a few times on the left of a back-four.

That made space for Radu Dragusin, who has performed exceptionally well at the Euros thus far.

With that in mind, Postecoglou might be keen to find room for both van de Ven and Dragusin next season.

That could perhaps see the Australian rotate his defenders as he looks to manage Spurs’ increased workload thanks to the UEFA Europa League.
