Luka Vuskovic could be set for Premier League loan as Tottenham to face key decision on ‘shining’ starlet

Luka Vuskovic could be playing Premier League football in the near future as the Tottenham starlet continues to excel out on loan.

The young centre-back finally joined the Lilywhites this summer following his 18th birthday, and joined up with his new teammates almost two years after his transfer was sealed.

Vuskovic impressed for Tottenham during pre-season, before the decision was ultimately taken to loan him out to Hamburg for the duration of the campaign.

With a recall option in place as part of the deal, the 18-year-old is firmly on Thomas Frank’s radar, and his current form could hand the boss a very welcome dilemma.

Luka Vuskovic get a Premier League loan next summer

Tottenham will be delighted with Vuskovic’s progress so far at Hamburg, as he has already become an integral part of their side.

The Croatian scored their first Bundesliga goal in 2688 days in the recent win over Heidenheim, before a commanding display saw him win a staggering 18 aerial duels during a 0-0 draw with Union Berlin.

Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Premier League football could be on the cards for him next season, either with his parent club or in the form of another loan.

“Vuskovic scored Hamburg’s first goal back in the Bundesliga,” Wenham said.

“So instantly, he’s going to be very well received, but the good thing is he’s playing 90 minutes. If he’s going to come back, having played around 40 games in the Bundesliga, then we’re going to be on to a good thing, because he’ll have just turned 19.

“Next year, he will be eligible for a Premier League loan. So Spurs will look at him again in preseason and then either decide if he’s going to break into the first team, or the alternative, going to go out on a Premier League loan next year.

“If he carries on shining in the Bundesliga, it will open up a lot of doors for him.”

Luka Vuskovic could yet be back at Tottenham in January

Tottenham’s recall clause on Vuskovic is dependent on another of their seniro centre-backs picking up an injury between now and January.

Therefore, while that scenario is obviously unlikely, it is not entirely impossible that he could be playing for Spurs before the end of the current campaign.

He was regularly involved with the first team during pre-season, which suggests that Frank would have no qualms about throwing him in at the deep end if the need ever arose.

For now, he is undoubtedly best served with Hamburg, but if he continues to perform in a league which is notoriously difficult for defenders, then it would be a huge shock if he isn’t involved at Spurs next term.
