Lilywhite Rose: Last-gasp January transfer exits still on the cards for three U21 stars

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes up to three more Under-21 stars could leave Tottenham on loan before the January transfer window closes.

Spurs’ Under-21s are flying high, sitting top of Premier League 2 with 11 wins from 11 in the competition so far this season.

Due to this incredible form, a few of the club’s top-performing youngsters have already earned themselves loan switches this month.

Goalkeeper Josh Keeley has joined up with National League side Barnet, while Ashley Phillips has joined Championship side Plymouth Argyle and Matthew Craig has moved to EFL League Two to play with Doncaster Rovers.

Although there is little time left until the transfer window closes, Wenham believes there could still be some movement out of Hotspur Way.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I could still see a few more Under-21 players leaving the club this month.

“Jude Soonsup-Bell is one of the players who I could definitely see making a loan switch.

“Yago Santiago Alonso and Will Lankshear also, there will be interest in both of them.

“There needs to be movement out of the club because we’ve got so many talented Under-18 players who are just waiting for the opportunity to move up to Under-21 level and deserve the chance to prove themselves at that level.

“For that to happen, there needs to be a pathway made for them.”

In other Tottenham news, a Spurs expert was left “mystified” by a decision Ange Postecoglou made in the defeat against Manchester City.
