Levy ‘makes Ange Postecoglou sack decision’ after Tottenham loss v Leicester

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is living dangerously in North London.

Spurs suffered their 13th Premier League defeat of the season on Sunday (26 January), losing 2-1 to Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as fans made their feelings about Postecoglou clear.

Daniel Levy was also subject to criticism from the Tottenham faithful inside the ground, and it appears as though the Spurs chairman could be on the verge of sacking Postecoglou [via The Sun, 26 January].

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Postecoglou will be kept in his position for now.

“They always say that a manager is only as good as his players,” King said.

“It feels as though Postecoglou is changing his team every game. The one thing that you need in your team is consistency. However, they’re never going to get that because Postecoglou never gets the chance to play the same team in consecutive matches.

“Postecoglou is obviously under pressure. I do think they’ll decide to stick by him for now. However, he doesn’t seem to motivate the players.”

Daniel Levy to stand by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

It is becoming increasingly difficult for Postecoglou to justify his position in North London.

Spurs remain 15th in the Premier League and are at risk of slipping to 16th if Everton win their game in hand. Therefore, it is understandable why fans are angry and why frustration is building.

However, Postecoglou is being forced to work with his hands tied behind his back as the injuries continue to mount and no new players are brought to the club.

That is the fault of Levy, and it is therefore understandable why fans’ protests against the chairman were louder than ever on Sunday.

And if the 62-year-old is going to stand by Postecoglou, he is going to need to bring reinforcements in.
