Jurgen Klopp to make Mohamed Salah decision v Tottenham amid David Ornstein update

John Wenham believes Jurgen Klopp will start Mohamed Salah for Liverpool against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday (5 May).

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that this match is the perfect opportunity for Salah and Klopp to put their issues behind them.

Salah was benched last time out as Liverpool drew 2-2 with West Ham at the London Stadium (27 April) and the Egypt international could be seen arguing with his manager before coming on as a second-half substitute.

Following that incident, it was reported this week that Salah is likely to remain at Liverpool next season (via David Ornstein, 29 April).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – therefore feels that the forward will start on Sunday.

“Liverpool are in poor form, but Anfield is still a very tough place to go,” Wenham said.

“It has been reported that Salah is likely to stay at Liverpool next season, and I therefore think Klopp will start him against Tottenham.

“The club will be looking to put the recent argument between Salah and Klopp to bed at the first possible opportunity.

“Salah is a genuine world-class player, and I am expecting him to line up against Spurs on the weekend.”

For most managers, if a player so publically disrespected them the way Salah disrespected Klopp, that player would be punished.

But with the German set to leave at the end of the season, and Salah now seemingly set to stay put, it is probably best for all parties involved to get the player back out on the pitch.

There would be no better way for Salah and Klopp to put their issues behind them than with a goal for the winger and a win on Sunday, and Ange Postecoglou must be wary of this motivation from a Tottenham perspective.
