Jude Soonsup-Bell January loan switch mooted after impressive form for Tottenham Under-21s – Expert

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Dane Scarlett’s return to Tottenham has opened the door for Under-21 star Jude Soonsup-Bell to head out on loan in January.

Scarlett was recently recalled from his season-long loan with high-flying Championship outfit Ipswich Town (Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 27 December).

It adds another striking option to Ange Postecoglou’s squad, and Wenham believes it has opened the door for Under-21 striker Soonsup-Bell to head out on loan this month, with the striker attracting interest from Championships clubs, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his official X account (2 January).

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I’m delighted to have Scarlett back, there was no need for him to carry on getting four minutes here and there with Ipswich.

“Bringing him back to the club allows some of our younger players to go out on loan and try something different.

“The likes of Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, Soonsup-Bell and Yago Santiago can now leave the club knowing that Scarlett can fill in as an option in the first-team squad, and he will also have no issues dominating in Premier League 2 and carrying on Spurs’ charge for the title in that division.

“I think that Scarlett will get some minutes for the first team. We saw him get 45 minutes against Fulham in the Carabao Cup before he was sent out on loan, and he featured quite heavily in pre-season as well.

“Who knows, maybe he will lead the line against Burnley in the FA Cup on Friday.”

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou faces sleepless nights at the thought of a January without his 97 per cent ace.
