John Wenham: Tottenham Women form ‘incomparable’ to last season in WSL

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham has described the Tottenham Women’s team’s form as “incomparable” from last season, claiming that they “have a bright future ahead.”

New head coach Robert Vilahamn has led Spurs’ Women’s team to four wins from their first five games, with their only loss a narrow 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge against last season’s WSL champions Chelsea.

Summer signing Martha Thomas is on fire, scoring in every game so far this season and leading the way in the WSL scoring charts with six goals.

Wenham has detailed the club’s impressive form this season and looked ahead to their exciting future.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “The Women’s team are on absolute fire, and I think it’s really important because they will be going into Hotspur Way to train every day just like the men’s team do and it helps the whole momentum around the club.

“Grace Clinton got her first call up for England which is a reflection of her bright form.

“To go to Aston Villa and Brighton and pick up six points, all without Beth England as well, is really impressive.

Tottenham Women, Beth England

“Tottenham Women look as though they have a bright future ahead, and their form looks incomparable to the struggles of last season.

“I have seen the announcement that the Women’s Super League game against Arsenal in December is going to be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs’ Women’s team are yet to beat Arsenal in the WSL so to try and get a first win, hopefully in front of a packed crowd, would be outstanding.”
