John Wenham: Tottenham will ‘have enough to beat Chelsea’ on ‘hugely emotional evening’

John Wenham believes Tottenham will “have enough to beat Chelsea” on what he anticipates to be a “hugely emotional evening.”

Mauricio Pochettino is set to return to Spurs for the first time since he was sacked by the club four years ago when he takes his Chelsea side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday 6 November.

A win would see Ange Postecoglou’s side return to the top of the Premier League and continue their unbeaten start to the season, something Pochettino will be keen to put a stop to.

With this in mind, Wenham has been looking toward the game and while he recognises the dangers, he still anticipates Tottenham to win the match.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “It is going to be a hugely emotional evening, obviously with the return of Pochettino being the main talking point.

“One issue for Chelsea has been the goalkeeper situation. Robert Sanchez, who seems to be going through a difficult spell, has shown he is afraid of kicking it long and we should be looking to target that weakness and force the mistake.

“That worked really well against Fulham when we seemed to continuously force Calvin Bassey onto his weaker foot, which led to the second goal.

“I’m expecting Tottenham to pick up the three points in this one. Chelsea have looked a bit better in recent weeks, but I still think considering the form Tottenham are in and the confidence they have at this moment in time, they’ll have enough to beat Chelsea.

“Having said that, I am sure Chelsea will be hugely motivated as it always seems to be the game they’re most up for each season and Pochettino will obviously want a result on his return, but overall, I just feel that Tottenham are too strong for Chelsea at this moment in time.”
